Lower School Classroom Teacher

Alexandria Country Day School is seeking a full-time Lower School classroom teacher for the 2020-2021 school year.

Qualified candidates will possess 3-5 years of experience in classroom teaching and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. The school seeks growth-minded candidates who are skilled, creative, innovative, and adept at employing technology in the classroom. Effective writing and speaking skills, a good sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an appreciation of the unique qualities of the age group are essential.

School Aftercare Staff

Alexandria Country Day School seeks two individuals to join the Aftercare Staff team for the 2019-20 school year.

Aftercare Staff report to the AM & PM Care Director and are responsible for implementing daily activities after school and supervising children in grades K through 8th.  Aftercare Staff are responsible for providing a joyful, fun, and well organized experience for students. Additionally, Aftercare staff setup and breakdown activity areas, ensure the availability of needed materials for children’s daily activities, assist with the preparation and serving of snacks, and maintain attendance records, among other duties. Aftercare Staff are also responsible for maintaining site safety, cleanliness and the timely reporting of accidents or incidents that occur while children are in the program.

Staff are required to obtain and maintain a current TB test result or chest x-ray, pass criminal background and state sex offenders registry checks, attend 16 hours of training annually, have or obtain CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration Training (MAT) certifications, and other potential state mandated requirements.  Candidates must be physically able to participate in all activities planned for children, including being outside and standing for prolonged periods of time.

This is a part-time position.  Work hours are Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM., on days school is open.

Substitute Teachers

Alexandria Country Day School is currently recruiting substitute teachers for the current school year. This position is on-call and as needed.

Qualified candidates must be enthusiastic, team players and have an appreciation of the unique qualities of the Kindergarten through 8th grade age group. A Bachelor’s degree and criminal background check are required. A background in education and classroom experience is preferred.
