Second Grade Teacher

Alexandria Country Day School is seeking a second-grade classroom teacher for the 2023-24 school year. Qualified candidates will possess 3-5 years of experience in classroom teaching and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Experience with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop program, Fundations, and Singapore Math is beneficial.  The school seeks growth-minded candidates who are skilled, creative, innovative, and adept at employing technology in the classroom. Effective writing and speaking skills, a good sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an appreciation of the unique qualities of the age group are essential.

Aftercare Director

Alexandria Country Day School seeks a Director of Aftercare to organize, oversee, and deliver our program providing care for students after school between the hours of 3:00 and 6:00 pm.  The Director will provide a safe and enjoyable environment for students in Kindergarten through Eighth-grade who participate in the program, work directly with students, supervise 1-3 staff members, communicate with families, develop programming, and manage registration.  Candidates should possess experience working with groups of children and be skilled at managing administrative details.  The school seeks candidates who are organized, skilled, and creative.  A good sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an appreciation of the unique qualities of the age group are essential.   This position requires approximately 20-25 hours of work per week while school is in session and is paid hourly.

Educational Assistant

Alexandria Country Day School is seeking an Educational Assistant for the 2023-24 school year. The Educational Assistant provides general support to teachers and administrators during the academic year.  Typical responsibilities include providing substitute teaching coverage, assisting teachers with organizing and preparing lesson materials, and providing ad hoc coverage for duties and meetings.

The Educational Assistant is an hourly position that is generally active during the 10-month academic year. This role is on-call each day with hourly adjustments made when support is not needed.

Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of one year working with children in a classroom setting. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred. Candidates must also have the ability to fulfill early morning same-day substitute requests, the ability to maintain a flexible schedule, have an appreciation for working with various age groups, and have strong organizational skills. Qualified candidates must also be able to provide necessary background checks.

Substitute Teachers

Alexandria Country Day School is currently recruiting substitute teachers for the 2022-2023 school year. This position is on-call and as needed. Substitutes, as well as faculty and students, will be expected to follow physical distancing guidelines and wear masks when in the building.

Qualified candidates must be enthusiastic, team players and have an appreciation of the unique qualities of the Kindergarten through 8th grade age group. A Bachelor’s degree and criminal background check are required. A background in education and classroom experience is preferred.
